Our technical expertise dates back to the 1960's, when Dr. Lester M. Larson served  as a research chemist at the Dupont Company in Wilmington, Delaware.  There he created the world's first thermoplastic splints in collaboration with Occupational Therapist Dorothy Kester, O.T.R.  Dr. Larson refined and published this work at the US National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland in 1967.

Dr. Larson authored 10 US and Canadian patents regarding splinting materials and initiated the development of Prenyl™ and Orthoplast™, the world's first commercially successful thermoplastic splinting materials. His work provided the foundation for all today's low-temperature thermoplastic splinting materials.

Dr. Larson and his son, Peter founded Larson Medical Products in 1989, in Columbus, Ohio.  During the 1990’s the company expanded to producing a variety of precision medical thermoplastics.

In 1999 Larson Medical Products began a collaboration with Dr. Deren Zhan of Guangzhou, China. This partnership brought modern medical thermoplastics to China through the founding of Klarity Medical and Equipment Company, which has become China's leading manufacturer of medical thermoplastics and related patient stabilization devices.

In 2010 the Larson Medical Products name has evolved to become Klarity Medical Products.  The name Klarity® symbolizes our dedication to technological excellence and our pledge to serve the world with the highest quality medical thermoplastics and positioning devices.
