A new documentary highlighting patient’s stories and focusing on cancer prevention and education premieres in upstate New York this week. Beneath the Surface features high school art students repurposing masks in to artwork. The film, created by Syracuse University students and the Upstate Cancer Center Head and Neck Support group, will be shown just in time for Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month at the Syracuse International Film Festival.
Admission to the Palace screening is free, and there will also be an auction of new radiation therapy masks that have been transformed into unique artworks. Donations will be accepted for Upstate’s Head and Neck Cancer Fund.
